At iCollege Barcelona, we stand out with our offering of world-renowned A-Level and BTEC qualifications.
These A-Levels Barcelona qualifications ensure a robust academic foundation for university preparation. Universities and employers highly respect A-level qualifications. While BTEC qualifications offer hands-on learning and coursework, prepare students for life, and are also respected by universities. Combining both A-Level and BTEC qualifications is a unique feature of our program.
Students typically choose between three or four BTEC and A-Levels Barcelona subjects, allowing them to tailor their education to their passions and life goals. Combining A-Level and BTEC qualifications is an increasingly popular option for many students.
A-Levels Barcelona courses deliver rigorous academic study, preparing students to enter top universities globally. Students benefit from small class sizes and expert faculty.
In addition to the A-Level subjects offered below, we provide opportunities for students to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which allows university-style research and counts towards university entrance.
A-Level Assessment
A-Levels Barcelona are a two-year qualification, with formal examinations conducted at the end of the first and second years. Final grades are determined based on performance across both study years and classified using an A+, A, B, C, D, E and U grading system.
Students typically take their examinations in May or June each year, with possible opportunities for resits available in October and January if necessary. A-Level Barcelona examination strategies will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
To track progress, we will conduct in-class A-Levels Barcelona assessments at the end of each term to measure learning and growth.
Our BTEC qualifications offer hands-on learning and industry-aligned coursework for students seeking applied learning experiences.
These qualifications also prepare students to attend top global universities or to enter the workforce directly. These qualifications empower students to develop entrepreneurial skills and adaptability. BTEC Subjects offered:
BTEC Assessment
BTEC assessments are evaluated through internal assessments—such as coursework, projects, presentations, practical assignments and controlled examinations. The qualification provider externally moderates all evaluations.
Students are graded on each unit’s Pass, Merit, Distinction, and Fail scale, contributing to their overall cumulative grade qualification. This is the same assessment system used in British universities.
The assessment process emphasises continuous internal evaluation, allowing students to demonstrate skills and competencies in real-world or simulated contexts aligning with international standards.
Regular operating hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, following an academic calendar. Where necessary, timetables will be tailored to individual needs and college scheduling.
We will inform parents of absences with agreed individual timetables for A-Levels Barcelona.
We will have weekly enrichment sessions, where we come together as a college. These sessions provide additional learning opportunities, foster community, and encourage students to explore their interests. They will also include weekly housekeeping meetings to discuss happenings and share success.
At iCollege Barcelona, we understand the importance of study preparation. We provide individualised support to help students organise their study prep timetables around their formal lessons, ensuring they are well-prepared for their subjects.
Expectations
We don’t use the term homework at iCollege Barcelona, but as ‘guided study’ (what work teachers set) and ‘independent study’ (individual preparation and wider reading). The demands of A-Levels Barcelona and BTEC learning are considerable (5-6 hours per week per subject area of expected guided study).
At iCollege Barcelona, we believe in the power of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. While we provide the best learning environment and stimulus for success, we also encourage students to be self-motivated, to work, struggle, and improve. This is where the real-life rewards and transformation occur.
We encourage students to balance off-campus learning with on-site study areas to enhance productivity and complete their A-Levels in Barcelona. Students are also welcome to study on-site outside operating hours, where appropriate.
