A-level Online Courses
Pathway to Global Universities and a Flourishing Life
At iCollege Barcelona, we stand out with our offering of world-renowned British International A-Level and BTEC qualifications.
A-Level online courses provide a robust academic foundation, while BTEC qualifications offer hands-on learning and coursework that prepare students for university and life. Students typically choose between three or four BTEC and A-Levels Barcelona subjects (in total), allowing them to focus and tailor their education. Combining A-Level and BTEC qualifications is an increasingly popular choice for many students.
Another unique feature of iCollege Barcelona is that we understand that learning is not a race. We can offer online A-Levels and BTEC qualifications over three or, in some cases, four years, allowing students to mature and gain broader work and life experience before completing their studies. We understand that each student’s progress differs; some require more time, while others progress more quickly.

Online A-Levels Assessment
As noted above, A-Levels Barcelona is typically a two-year qualification, but can be studied over three or four years. A-levels have formal examinations at the end of the first and second years. Final grades are determined based on performance across both study years and classified using an A+, A, B, C, D, E and U grading system.
Students typically take their examinations in May or June each year, with possible opportunities for resits available in October and January if necessary. A-Level Barcelona examination strategies will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
To track progress, we will conduct in-class A-Levels Barcelona assessments at the end of each term to measure learning and growth.
BTEC Qualifications
Our BTEC qualifications offer hands-on learning and industry-aligned coursework for students seeking applied learning experiences. We highly encourage students to study at least one BTEC subject.
These qualifications also prepare students to attend top global universities or to enter the workforce directly. These qualifications empower students to develop entrepreneurial skills and adaptability. BTEC Subjects offered:
- Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
- Information Technology
- Creative Media
- Travel and Tourism
BTEC Assessment
BTEC assessments are evaluated through internal assessments, including coursework, projects, presentations, practical assignments, and controlled examinations. The qualification provider externally moderates all evaluations.
Students are graded on a Pass, Merit, Distinction, and Fail scale for each unit, which contributes to their overall cumulative grade qualification. This is the same assessment system used in British universities.
The assessment process emphasises continuous internal evaluation, allowing students to demonstrate skills and competencies in real-world or simulated contexts, aligning with international standards.
Schedule
Regular operating hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., following the academic calendar. Where necessary, timetables will be tailored to meet individual needs and college scheduling requirements.
We will inform parents of absences, adhering to agreed-upon individual timetables for A-Levels in Barcelona.
Our A-Level schools will have weekly enrichment sessions, where we come together as a college. These sessions offer additional learning opportunities, foster a sense of community, and encourage students to explore their interests. They will also include weekly housekeeping meetings to discuss happenings and share successes.
Study Prep
Expectations
We don’t use the term’ homework’ at iCollege Barcelona, but rather ‘guided study’ (the work teachers set) and ‘independent study’ (individual preparation and wider reading). The demands of A-Level schools and BTEC learning are considerable (5-6 hours per week per subject area of expected guided study).
At iCollege Barcelona, we believe in the power of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. While we provide the best learning environment and stimulus for success, we also encourage students to be self-motivated, to work, struggle, and improve. This is where the real-life rewards and transformation occur.
We encourage students to balance off-campus learning with on-site study areas to enhance productivity and complete their online A-Levels in Barcelona. Students are also welcome to study on-site outside operating hours, where appropriate
